Delores Madelon Ayala, age 77, of Central City, Illinois, peacefully passed away and Heaven has gained a treasured soul at 10:45 A.M. on Saturday, April 9, 2016, at SSM Health St. Mary's Hospital in Centralia, Illinois.  She was born on February 21, 1939 in Centralia, Illinois, the daughter of Pearl “Pud' and Mildred P. (Buchanan) Adams.  She married Vincent Ayala in September of 1973 in Mount Vernon, Illinois and he survives her in Central City, Illinois.

In addition to her husband of  41 years, Mrs. Ayala is survived by her daughter, Missy Garrett and husband Stephen of San Antonio, Texas, son, Destry Wood of Centralia, Illinois, 7 grandchildren, Tabatha Wood and friend Tim, Nicki Clark and husband Wade, Josh McCoy and wife Julie, Jeffrey Wood, Jacob Wood and friend Shawna Telford, Colby Wood and friend Michaela Savage and Tyler Ayala, 4 step-grandchildren, Chris Sharp, Ronnie Sharp, Nick Sharp and Mandy Merkle, 9 great-grandchildren, 8 step-great grandchildren, 1 great-great granddaughter, sister, Joanne Hodge and husband Leon of Central City, Illinois, 4 daughters-in-law, Rhonda Nehrt, Diane Wood, Dee Wood and Terri Boggs, special friend, Bertha Herron of Centralia, Illinois, special dog, Maui and many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends who were near and dear to her heart.

Mrs. Ayala was preceded in death by her parents, daughter, Denise Wood, and son, Jeffrey Wood, 5 uncles, 2 aunts and special dog, Mia.

Mrs. Ayala was of the Baptist Faith.  She enjoyed the outdoors especially fishing at the family club house and bird watching.  She like to read and tend to her vegetable garden.  As it was said by her family, she was known as a wonderful cook.  She cherished the time she spent with her family especially looking after her mother.  She was looking forward to the birth of her 2 great-grandchildren.  Our mother filled her home with laughter and love.  We will forever cherish in our hearts her friendliness, kindness and devotion to her family.

Mrs. Ayala retired as an aide to the adults of the Kaskaskia Workshop in Centralia, Illinois.  She previously was a deli manager for Hucks in Central City, Illinois for many years, a cook at Meadow Woods Country Club, a painter at Rockwell Industries and an aide to the residents of Warren G. Murray Developmental Center.  She was life long resident of Central City, Illinois.

As per Mrs. Ayala's wishes, she will be cremated.  There will be no visitation nor services.  A private Celebration of Life Services was held by her family and friends.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Cancer Care Specialist in Centralia, Illinois and will be received at the Moran Queen-Boggs Funeral Home in Centralia, Illinois.
