Dorothy H. (Addison) Fowler

Dorothy Helen Fowler, age 89, of Mt. Vernon, Illinois, formerly of Decatur, Illinois and Centralia, Illinois, passed away at 9:50 A.M. on Tuesday, August 18, 2015 at Nature Trail Health Care Center in Mt. Vernon, Illinois after an extended illness. She was born on March 21, 1926 in Centralia, Illinois, the daughter of William and Myrtle (Mandrell) Addison. She was one of eleven children, nine girls and two boys. She was first married to Herbert James Baker and they later divorced. She married Norman Andrew Fowler on December 23, 1975 in Mt. Vernon, Illinois and he survives her in Mt. Vernon, Illinois.

In addition to her husband of 39 years, Mrs. Fowler is survived by her sons, Larry Baker and wife Barbara of Decatur, Illinois and Steven Baker and wife Cathy of Robertsville, Missouri, daughter, Barbara Hardy and husband Charles of Scooba, Mississippi, 8 grandsons, 1 step granddaughter, 9 great grandchildren, 3 great great granddaughters, sister, Janice Landsford of Centralia, Illinois, stepson, Allen Fowler and stepdaughters, Paula Murphy and Starr Lahey.

Mrs. Fowler is preceded in death by her parents, son, Donald William Baker, daughters, Deborah Baker and Marsha Miller, stepson, Timothy Fowler and seven sisters and two brothers. Mrs. Fowler enjoyed playing bingo and solving word search and puzzle books. She loved traveling places with her husband Norm and attending amusement parks. She cherished the time she spent with her family especially with her grandson, James Scott Miller.

Mrs. Fowler worked for 8 years as a laundry clerk for Motel 6 in Mt. Vernon, Illinois until her retirement. Earlier in life, she was employed with Hollywood Brand Candy Company in Centralia, Illinois. She has lived in Mt. Vernon, Illinois since 1972 and previously lived in Decatur, Illinois and Centralia, Illinois.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 A. M. on Monday, August 24, 2015 at Moran Queen-Boggs Funeral Home in Centralia, Illinois with Pastor Mark Doane officiating. Interment will follow in Elmwood Cemetery in Centralia, Illinois.
