Edith Jean Brashear, age 73, of Centralia, Illinois, passed away at 7:20 P.M. on Monday, December 19, 2016 at her home with her family at her side. She was born on October 27, 1943 in Centralia, Illinois, the daughter of Ural and Leona (Eller) Copple. She married Larry J. Brashear on August 31, 1963 at Little Grove Christian Church in Walnut Hill, Illinois and he survives her in Centralia, Illinois.

In addition to her husband of 53 years, Mrs. Brashear is survived by her two sons, John Brashear and wife Ann of Centralia, Illinois and Joe Brashear and wife Maria of Carlinville, Illinois, daughter, Dawn Bone and husband Tony of Centralia, Illinois, nine grandchildren, Amy Hanon and husband Stuart, Matthew Brashear, Stevie Lynn Brashear, Madison Brashear, Chelsea Bone, Emily Bone, Radley and wife Shannon, Risa and Dane, five great-grandchildren, Kyndall Brashear, Karsten Rogers, Fallon Rogers, Kylie and Rainey, sister, Judy Kelsheimer and husband Bob of Centralia, Illinois, brother, Mike Copple and wife Jenny of Centralia, Illinois, two sisters-in-law: Ethel Wilson of Litchfield, Illinois and Kammy Goostree and husband Rick of Odin, Illinois, brother-in-law, Allen Brashear and wife Pixie of Centralia, Illinois and several nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Brashear was preceded in death by her parents.

Mrs. Brashear was a dedicated member of Calumet Street Christian Church in Centralia, Illinois. She had a strong faith and loved the Lord. She was a dedicated Disciple with the Disciple program. She graduated Salutatorian from the Centralia Junior College in 1962, Salutatorian with the Centralia Township High School's “Class of 1960” and Valedictorian with the Raccoon Grade School's “Class of 1956.” Mrs. Brashear loved having her dog, Buddy, at her side. She cherished the time she spent with her family and friends, especially her grandchildren. She was looking forward to the birth of her great-granddaughter, who is due in February to Amy and Stu Hanon.

Mrs. Brashear was employed for 14 years with the First National Bank (Magna Bank of Centralia) as Secretary of the Trust Department and then Executive Secretary to the Bank President. After graduating from junior college in 1962, she was employed as a Secretary for J.C. Penney. She retired in1996 to travel with her husband as his work took them around the world and they then traveled in their RV to winter in Texas.

Celebration of Life Services will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Friday, December 23, 2016 at the Calumet Street Christian Church in Centralia, Illinois with Mr. John Willis officiating. Interment will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park near Centralia, Illinois. Friends may call from 4:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. on Thursday, December 22, 2016, at Calumet Street Christian Church and from 9:30 A.M. until the time of services at 10:30 A.M. on Friday, December 23, 2016 at the church. Memorial Contributions may be made in Mrs. Brashear's memory to the Oil Belt Christian Service Camp or Calumet Street Christian Church and will be received at the Moran Queen-Boggs Funeral Home in Centralia, Illinois.
