Erma Margaret (Brannon) Brown

Erma Margaret Brown, age 95, a long time resident of Centralia, Illinois, passed away at 12:07 A.M. on Saturday, June 13, 2015 at John Knox Village Care Center in Lee's Summit, Missouri, where she resided for the past year.

Mrs. Brown was born on June 22, 1919 in Salem, Illinois, the daughter of Todd and Mary Katherine “Katie” (Mills) Brannon. She was one of nine children whom she helped raise after her mother died suddenly. She married Norman “Brownie” Brown, proprietor of Brownie's Barber Shop, on February 1, 1948 in Olney, Illinois and he preceded her in death on December 31, 1987.

Mrs. Brown is survived by her 2 daughters, Kaye Buchanan of Overland Park, Kansas and Shelley Lake of Overland Park, Kansas, 2 sons, Richard Brown of Independence, Missouri and Greg Brown of Centralia, Illinois, 6 grandchildren, Erik Brown, Andrew Brown, Lauren Lake, Jennifer Buchanan, Matthew Buchanan and Chad Sellers and 7 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband of 39 years, Mrs. Brown was preceded in death by her son, Larry Neil Sellers, daughter-in-law, Brenda Brown, 3 brothers and 5 sisters.

Mrs. Brown raised her family in the First Baptist Church in Centralia, Illinois, where she was a youth leader for many years. She loved to garden and won Project Pride for her yard several times over the years.

Mrs. Brown spent many years as a retail clerk for Mary Fay Shop and Hutters Men's Clothier in Centralia, Illinois. She has lived in Centralia, Illinois since 1955 and formerly many years in Salem, Illinois.

A Celebration of Life Services will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Wednesday, June 17, 2015 at the Moran Queen-Boggs Funeral Home in Centralia, Illinois with Pastor Mark Doane officiating. Interment will follow in East Lawn Cemetery in Salem, Illinois. Friends may call from 11:00 A.M. until the time of services at 1:00 P.M. on Wednesday at the Moran Queen-Boggs Funeral Home in Centralia, Illinois.
