Gertrude “Bobbie” Pitts Zibby, of Norman, Oklahoma, formerly of Centralia, Illinois, passed away on Tuesday, July 11, 2017, just two weeks shy of her 97th birthday.  She was born July 25, 1920, in Sapulpa, Oklahoma, the youngest of six girls of the late Vivian Scott Pitts and Nestor Pitts.

In 1938, after graduating from Sapulpa High School and Tulsa Business College, Bobbie moved with her sister and brother-in-law to Centralia, Illinois to work in a local law office.  She met a young dentist, Michael Zibby, and they married on January 11, 1941.  She was a wonderful mother to her three children, Michael, Stephen, and Susan.

Bobbie enjoyed playing bridge, golfing, gardening, reading, antique hunting and refinishing her finds. 

In 1985, Bobbie and Mike retired and moved to Albuquerque, New Mexico.  After his death, she remained there until 1993, when she moved to Norman, Oklahoma to be close to her daughter and son-in-law.

Bobbie was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Norman, Oklahoma and former member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Centralia, Illinois.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Michael H. Zibby and her son, Dr. Michael P. Zibby.

She is survived by her children, Stephen Zibby and wife Mary Jo of Clermont, Florida, Susan Aikman and husband Robert of Norman, Oklahoma, daughter-in-law, Geni Zibby of Centralia, Illinois, eight grandchildren, Stephen Zibby, Kay Zibby-Damron, Lisa Onorato, Michael Zibby, Matt Zibby, Christina Aikman, Amie Zibby and Rob Aikman and eight great-grandchildren.  

A Graveside Memorial Service will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Saturday, August 12, 2017, at Calvary Cemetery in Centralia, Illinois with Fr. Dale Maxfield officiating.  Family and friends are asked to meet at the cemetery on Saturday.  Memorial contributions may be made in Bobbie’s honor to St. Mary Catholic Church, St. Mary Catholic School or Charity of Donor’s Choice and may be received by the Moran Queen-Boggs Funeral Home in Centralia, Illinois.  Please view the online obituary, send condolences or share memories with Bobbie’s family at www.moranfuneralhome.net or on the funeral home’s Facebook page.
