Herman Friedrich “Junior” Holle, Jr., age 91, of Centralia, Illinois, passed away at 5:25 A.M. on Thursday, January 5, 2017 at Odin Healthcare Center in Odin, Illinois.  He was born on June 16, 1925 in Hoffman, Illinois, the son of Herman Friedrich, Sr. and Mary (Blumenkamp) Holle.  He married Margaret Ada Langenfeld on November 26, 1959 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Centralia, Illinois and she preceded him in death on February 12, 2008.

Mr. Holle is survived by his son, Thomas Holle and wife Brenda of Centralia, Illinois, daughter, Tammy Greene and husband Jody of Spencer, Indiana, grandson, Matthew Greene, sister, Ruth Marie Richison and husband Charlie of Hoffman, Illinois, sister-in-law, Edna Holle of Kansas City, Missouri and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his wife of 48 years, Mr. Holle was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Ralph Holle and Norman Holle and one sister, Gertrude Roeckeman.

Mr. Holle was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Centralia, Illinois, where he was a church usher and a member of the parish council.  He was a life-member and 4th Degree Knight of the Knights of Columbus Council 1025 in Centralia, Illinois.  He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving his country during World War II from March 20, 1945 to December 27, 1946.  He was stationed in Okinawa and Japan and served in the Engineer Combat Battalion and Military Police Battalion.  He was a member of the Centralia American Legion Post 446 and V.F.W. Post 2055, where he was a member of the Military Funeral Detail for many years.  Mr. Holle was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan and he would read the St. Louis Post-Dispatch every day to keep up with Cardinals.  In his younger years, he enjoyed being on the bowling leagues and golfing at the V.F.W. scrambles.  He cherished the time he spent with his family and friends.

Mr. Holle retired as a maintenance technician from Natural Gas Pipeline Company in Hoffman, Illinois after 34 years of service.  He attended Carlyle High School in Carlyle, Illinois.  He has lived in Centralia, Illinois for the last 52 years of his life.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday, January 10, 2017, at St. Mary Catholic Church in Centralia, Illinois with Father James Nall officiating.  Entombment will follow in Calvary Cemetery in Centralia, Illinois with Military Honors accorded by the Centralia American Post 446 and V.F.W. Post 2055.  Friends may call from 10:00 A.M. until the time of mass at 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday, January 10, 2017, at St. Mary Catholic Church.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions made in Mr. Holle’s memory to St. Mary Catholic School or Mass memorials c/o St. Mary Catholic Church and will be received at the Moran Queen-Boggs Funeral Home in Centralia, Illinois.  Please view the online obituary, send condolences or share memories with Mr. Holle’s family at www.moranfuneralhome.net or on the funeral home’s Facebook page.
