Joseph Russell Douglas Hayes, age 59, of Centralia, Illinois, passed away at 9:10 P.M. on Monday, November 23, 2015 at the SSM Healthcare St. Mary's Hospital in Centralia, Illinois. He was born on August 8, 1956 in Hammond, Indiana, the son of Robert Elwood and Lula Marie (Beasley) Hayes. He married Brenda McClaren on April 29, 1975 in Centralia, Illinois and they later divorced.
Mr. Hayes is survived by his son, Joe Hayes and wife Leigh Ann of Centralia, Illinois, daughters, Rebecca Corrie and husband Jason of Odin, Illinois, Selina Quillman and husband Tony of Centralia, Illinois and Shelly Sheckles and husband Anthony of Centralia, Illinois, grandchildren, Matthew Corrie, Elizabeth Quillman, Ashley Quillman, Erik Quillman, Dylan Hayes, Katelyn Hayes, Keagan Sheckles, Brantley Corrie and Jude Sheckles, brothers, Robert Hayes and wife Ann of Centralia, Illinois, John Hayes and wife Ginger of Centralia and Charles Hayes and wife Brenda of Iuka, Illinois, 3 sisters, special nephew, Steven McClaren and numerous nephews and nieces.
Mr. Hayes was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Michael Hayes.
Mr. Hayes was a member of Salvation Army Church in Centralia, Illinois. He enjoyed attending auctions and selling items on eBay. He was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan. He liked going to dirt track car racing and tractor pulls. Mr. Hayes loved the companionship of his dogs, Pookie, Punky and Max. He cherished the time he spent with his family, especially his grandchildren.
Mr. Hayes retired in 1995 as a welder from Kingsley & Fisher in Central City, Illinois. He was previously a welder for Valley Steel in Centralia, Illinois for many years. He lived most of his life in Centralia, Illinois.
A Celebration of Life Services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Monday, November 30, 2015, at Moran Queen-Boggs Funeral Home in Centralia, Illinois with Deacon John Hempen officiating. Interment will follow in Harvey's Point Cemetery in Cartter, Illinois. Friends may call from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. on Sunday, November 29, 2015 at the Moran Queen-Boggs Funeral Home in Centralia, Illinois.
