Sean E. Griffin

Sean E. Griffin, age 40, of Centralia, Illinois, passed away at 1:50 P.M. on Sunday, July 5, 2015 at his home in Centralia, Illinois. He was born on September 13, 1974 in Chicago, Illinois, the son of Virgil Dwight and Sharon (Johnston) Griffin.

 Mr. Griffin is survived by his son, Trevor Griffin of Centralia, Illinois, brother, Todd Griffin and wife Lori of Bridgeview, Illinois, sister, Tina Misantoni and husband Bart of Chicago, Illinois, niece, Cheyenne Griffin of Bridgeview, Illinois, father, Virgil Dwight Griffin of Orland Hills, Illinois and uncle, Rex Johnston of San Diego, California.

Mr. Griffin was preceded in death by his mother.

Mr. Griffin was a member of The Rock Church in Centralia, Illinois. He enjoyed music and played the trumpet. He was a Sensei with the Five Rings Mixed Martial Arts Academy in Centralia, Illinois. He earned 3 Black-Belts including his Shodan Black-Belt in the art of Okinawan Shorin Kempo Jutsu and his Shodan Black-Belt in the art of Shorei-Ryu. Mr. Griffin received his 18 Dragon Form Kung Fu certification through the Five Rings Immersion Way Series on November 27, 2013.

Mr. Griffin was a Direct Service Personnel at Kaskaskia Workshop in Centralia, Illinois. He previously was a bus driver for West Bus Service in Centralia, Illinois and Beck Bus Service in Mt. Vernon, Illinois. He also worked at Walgreens Distribution Center in Mt. Vernon, Illinois. While he was living in the Chicago area, he worked at the Helping Hand Center in Chicago, Illinois, where he assisted adults with disabilities. He has lived in Centralia, Illinois for the last 13 years.

Celebration of Life Services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, July 18, 2015 at the Moran Queen-Boggs Funeral Home in Centralia, Illinois with Pastor Steve Upchurch officiating. A Memorial Gathering will be held from 10:00 A.M. until the time of services at 11:00 A.M. at the Moran Queen-Boggs Funeral Home in Centralia, Illinois. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Mr. Griffin’s memory to The Rock Church in Centralia, Illinois and will be received at the Moran Queen-Boggs Funeral Home in Centralia, Illinois.
