William Raymond “Bill” Vaughn, age 75, of Centralia, Illinois, passed away at 2:51 a.m. on Friday, November 18, 2016, at SSM Health St. Mary’s Hospital in Centralia, Illinois with his family by his side.  He was born January 4, 1941 in Ashley, Illinois, the son of Ira and Helen Marie (Woodrome) Vaughn.

Mr. Vaughn is survived by his three sons, William Eugene Vaughn of Missouri, Michael Raymond Vaughn of Dixon, Missouri and Jeffery Vaughn of West Plains, Missouri, two daughters, Dovie Guisinger and husband Buck of Dixon, Missouri and Cyndi Grubb and husband Joe of O’Fallon, Illinois, 10 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.

Mr. Vaughn was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Bob Vaughn and sister, Jean Knabe.

Mr. Vaughn was of the Christian Faith.  He enjoyed working with his hands especially doing crafts, working on puzzles and building furniture. 

Mr. Vaughn was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving his country during the Vietnam War from 1960 until 1968. He earned the rank of Specialists 5th Class and was a crane engineer until he was discharged from the U.S. Army as a result of an injury.  He has lived in Centralia, Illinois for the last years of his life, and previously lived in Richview, Illinois and Ashley, Illinois.

A Memorial Gathering of family and friends will be held on Tuesday, November 22, 2016, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the Moran Queen-Boggs Funeral Home in Centralia, Illinois.  Military Honors will be accorded by the Centralia American Legion Post # 446 and V.F.W. Post # 2055 at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 22, 2016 at the Moran Queen-Boggs Funeral Home.  Inurnment will take place in Ashley Cemetery in Ashley, Illinois at a later date.  Please view the online obituary, send condolences or share memories with Mr. Vaughn’s family at www.moranfuneralhome.net or on Facebook.
