Alvira Marie Redeker, age 96, of New Minden, Illinois passed away at 7:40 P.M. on Friday, March 23, 2018 at her home in Centralia, Illinois with her loving family by her side. She was born on March 11, 1922, in New Minden, Illinois, the daughter of the late Herman and Dorothea (Beckmann) Kuhlenengelken. She married Wilbert L. Redeker on June 22, 1947, at St. John Lutheran Church in New Minden, Illinois and he preceded her in death on December 12, 1985.
Mrs. Redeker is survived by her children; Howard Redeker and wife Janet of Kinmundy, Illinois, Mary Jones of Centralia, Illinois, Doris Meadows and husband Cliff of Centralia, Illinois, Henry Redeker and wife Cathy of Irvington, Illinois and Rosalie Rice and husband Alan of Cadiz, Kentucky; 32 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; 11 great great-grandchildren; brother-in-law, Roger Thusius of Maryland; sister-in-law, Eunice Hausler and husband Ray of New Minden, Illinois and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband of 38 years, Mrs. Redeker was preceded in death by her parents; son, Harold Redeker; son-in-law, Stanley Jones; sister, Lorna Stein; brother-in-law, Elmer Stein; brother-in-law, Richard Redeker and wife Florence; sister-in-law, Erna Tyberndt and husband Paul; sister-in-law, Wilma Maschhoff and husband Willard; sister-in-law, Betty Thusius; brother-in-law, Luther Redeker and sister-in-law, Eileen Redeker.
Mrs. Redeker was a life time member of St. John Lutheran Church in New Minden, Illinois, where she was a member of the Ladies Aid and Lutheran Women’s Missionary League. She loved tending to her garden. She enjoyed crocheting, embroidery and quilting with the Ladies Aid. Mrs. Redeker was a hard worker, who raised and provided for her family. She is remembered by her family as being a compassionate person, who was respectful and kind to other people. She was known to do anything for anyone at any given time. She had the passion to remember everyone’s birthday and send cards to them. She cherished the time with her family, especially watching after her grandchildren.
Mrs. Redeker was a housewife and homemaker. She retired in 1990 as a Certified Nursing Assistant from Friendship Manor in Nashville, Illinois after many years of service. She lived in Centralia, Illinois for the last 9 years and previously lived her whole life in New Minden, Illinois.
A Celebration of Life Service for Mrs. Alvira Marie Redeker will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday, March 28, 2018, at St. John Lutheran Church in New Minden, Illinois with Pastor Timothy Mueller officiating. Interment will follow in St. John Lutheran Cemetery in New Minden, Illinois. Friends may visit with Mrs. Redeker’s family from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. on Tuesday, March 27, 2018, at the Moran Queen-Boggs Funeral Home in Centralia, Illinois and from 9:00 A.M. until the time of services at 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday, March 28, 2018, at St. John Lutheran Church. Memorial contributions may be made in Mrs. Redeker’s memory to the St. John Lutheran Church Building Fund and will be received by the Moran Queen-Boggs Funeral Home.
