Betty B. (Talbott) Schnake

Betty B. Schnake, age 87, of Hoyleton, Illinois, passed away on the 87th anniversary of her birth at 4:20 A.M. on Thursday, November 30, 2017 at Centralia Manor in Centralia, Illinois.

She was born on November 30, 1930 in Centralia, Illinois, the daughter of the late Charles and Gladys (Myers) Talbott.  She married Eugene R. Schnake on April 1, 1949 in Washington County, Illinois and he preceded her in death on June 21, 2002.

Mrs. Schnake is survived by her two sons, Robert “Rob” Schnake and wife Donna of Riverside, Iowa and Jeffrey Schnake and wife Melissa of Weldon, Illinois; grandchildren, Samantha Quinn and husband Gavin, Sarah Schnake, Stephanie Westrom and husband Tommy, Susannah Schnake, Tracy Volk and wife Teresa and Brett Volk and wife Kim; eight great-grandchildren; four great great-granddaughters; two brothers, Fred Talbott and wife Diana of Florida and Dick Talbott and wife Sharon of Centralia, Illinois; one sister, Carol Moore of Centralia, Illinois and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband of 53 years, Mrs. Schnake was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Pamela Devine and two brothers, Terry Talbott and Donny Talbott.

Mrs. Schnake attended the Richview United Methodist Church in Richview, Illinois.  She loved listening to music and singing solos at church.  Mrs. Schnake was an avid gardener, who took pleasure in taking care of her flower garden.  She enjoyed tending to her trophy yard around her farm house built in 1965.  It was with great pride that she took care of the home landscaping and Koi Fish pond, which she dug on her own.  She enjoyed dancing with her husband.  She cherished the time with her family, especially her grandchildren and dogs, Happy, Colby and Buddy.

Mrs. Schnake was an adjunct nursing instructor for the LPN and Nurse Assistant Program at Kaskaskia College in Centralia, Illinois for many years.  She graduated from Kaskaskia College with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing in the late 1970’s.  She lived all of her life in Hoyleton, Illinois.

Celebration of Life Services for Mrs. Betty B. Schnake will be held at 12:00 P.M. on Monday, December 4, 2017 at the Moran Queen-Boggs Funeral Home in Centralia, Illinois with Reverend Dave Trover officiating.  Interment will follow in Friedens Cemetery in Irvington, Illinois.  Friends may call from 10:00 A.M. until the time of services at 12:00 P.M. on Monday at the funeral home.  Memorial contributions may be made in Mrs. Schnake’s memory to the Alzheimer’s Association and will be received at the Moran Queen-Boggs Funeral Home in Centralia, Illinois, Please view the online obituary, send condolences or share memories with Mrs. Schnake’s family at www.moranfuneralhome.net
