Gail Harmon Obituary

Gail Louise Harmon, age 77, of Centralia, Illinois, passed away at 4:39 P.M. on Sunday, June 24, 2018, at Salem Township Hospital in Salem, Illinois with her loving husband by her side on the day of their 58th wedding anniversary. She was born on December 5, 1940 in Red Lion, Pennsylvania, the daughter of the late John Albert and Betty Jane (Gise) Fair.  She married Marion Levi Harmon on June 24, 1960 in Salem, Illinois and he survives her in Centralia, Illinois.

In addition to her husband of 58 years, Mrs. Harmon is survived by her son, Thomas Marion Harmon and wife Elizabeth of Naples, Florida; daughter, Stephanie Logullo and husband Jon of Greenville, Illinois; grandchildren, Alexander Thomas Harmon of Broomfield, Colorado, Tad Harmon Logullo and wife Jenny of Anaheim, California, Drew Harmon Logullo of Columbus, Ohio and Ben Harmon Logullo of Greenville, Illinois and two sisters, Barbara Jane Fleming of Centralia, Illinois and Shirley Cornelia Fair of Daytona Beach, Florida.

Mrs. Harmon was preceded in death by her parents.

Mrs. Harmon was a long-time member of the Community of Christ Church in Centralia, Illinois, where she a charter member of the Community of Christ RV Association.   She was a member of the Raccoon Ramblers Camping Club and Centralia Squares.  She was a volunteer for the American Red Cross for 20 years, being there for communities during floods, fires and 9-11.  Mrs. Harmon loved to collect angels.  She enjoyed traveling with her husband as they wintered in Harlingen, Texas.  She also enjoyed traveling with her family to Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida, taking 10 cruises with the last cruise being a 15-day cruise in the Panama Canal, visiting 14 states in Mexico and all the countries in Central America.  She and her husband visited all 50 states in the U.S.A. and camped in 48 of the states.  She cherished the time she spent with her family with her family and loved her grandchildren.  She was always there for her grandchildren throughout the holidays, school events and concerts and family time with them on camp outings.  She was known to be a great cook and made a mean Oreo dessert.

Mrs. Harmon retired in August of 1990 as an operator from Illinois Bell/AT&T after 32 years of service.  She graduated from Kaskaskia College with an Associate's Degree and graduated with Salem Community High School’s “Class of 1958.”  She has lived in Centralia, Illinois since 1965.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 5:00 P.M. on Thursday, June 28, 2018 at the Moran Queen-Boggs Funeral Home in Centralia, Illinois with High Priest Joan Munter officiating.  Friends are invited to visit with Mrs. Harmon’s family from 2:00 P.M. until the time of services at 5:00 P.M. on Thursday, June 28, 2018 at the funeral home.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Mrs. Harmon’s memory to the Marion County One Room Schoolhouse in Salem, Illinois and will be received by the Moran Queen-Boggs Funeral Home in Centralia, Illinois.  Please view the online obituary, send condolences or share memories with Mrs. Harmon’s family at www.moranfuneralhome.net or on the funeral home’s Facebook page.
