Glenda "Gail" Banks Obituary

Glenda Celia “Gail” Banks, age 71, of Centralia, Illinois, passed away at 6:30 A.M. on Sunday, November 18, 2018, at Centralia Manor in Centralia, Illinois with her family by her side. She was born on July 8, 1947, in Martinsburg, Indiana, the daughter of the late Glenn L. and Jean (Blankenbaker) Martin.  She married J.W. Banks on February 3, 1975 in Sellersburg, Indiana and he survives her in Centralia, Illinois.

In addition to her loving husband of 43 and a half years, Mrs. Banks is survived by her son, Tony Glenn Banks of Odin, Illinois; half-sister, Jane Ann Bullington and husband Denny of Salem, Indiana; brother-in-law, Arlie Banks and wife Betty of Moores Hill, Indiana and many nieces.

Mrs. Banks was preceded in death by her parents, grandparents and three uncles.

Mrs. Banks was a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witness in Centralia, Illinois for 35 years.  She is an U.S. Marine, who served her country for three years as a clerk typist at Camp Lejeune in North Carolina.  She enjoyed coloring, solving fill-in puzzles and playing solitaire.  She loved working on her craft projects.  Mrs. Banks was known by her family and friends as being a hard worker.  She cherished the time she spent with her family and her son was always first to her. 

Mrs. Banks was a housewife and homemaker.  She moved to Centralia, Illinois in 1977 after the birth of her son so he could be close to his grandparents.  She formerly lived in New Albany, Indiana.  She graduated with Clarksville High School’s “Class of 1965” in Clarksville, Indiana.

In following Mrs. Banks’ wishes, there will be no visitation nor services. Cremation rites accorded by the Moran Queen-Boggs Funeral Home in Centralia, Illinois.
