Richard "Dick" Davis Obituary

Richard Curtis “Dick” Davis, age 74, of Centralia, Illinois, passed away at 11:55 A.M. on Saturday, July 14, 2018 at Odin Healthcare Center in Odin, Illinois with his loving daughter by his side.  He was born on February 16, 1944 in Centralia, Illinois, the son of the late Russell and Margaret (Braden) Davis.  He married Doris Kay Donahoo on January 29, 1965 in Centralia, Illinois and she preceded him in death on October 11, 2015.

Dick is survived by his two loving daughters, Kimberly Kuder and special friend Steve Prather of Centralia, Illinois and Leigh Anne Campbell and husband Joseph of Rogersville, Missouri; eight grandchildren, Jordan Kuder and fiancée Krista Miller, Justin Kuder, Brandon Buchanan, Tanner Rust, Ashleigh Rust, Jacob Campbell and special friend Lauren Beck, Maggie Campbell and Ethan Campbell; three great-grandchildren, Kash Curtis Kuder, Daniel Campbell and Gabriel Campbell; one sister, Judy Kirkland of Indianapolis, Indiana and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his beloved wife of 50 years, Dick was preceded in death by his parents; step-mother, Ruth Goodwin Davis and brother, Robert Davis.

Dick was of the Christian faith and was a former member of the First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Centralia, Illinois.  He was a member of the Centralia Elks B.P.O.E Lodge 493.  He was avid follower of the Centralia Orphans and Saint Louis Cardinals.  Dick loved to golf and shot a hole-in-one at Colonial Golf Course in Sandoval, Illinois.  He was known by his family and friends for his sense of humor, even up to his final days with them.  He cherished the time he spent with his family and friends.

Dick was owner and operator of D & D Transportation in Centralia, Illinois, serving this area from 1992 until 1998.  He retired as vice president from VSPC Transportation in Centralia, Illinois after 30 years of service.  He has lived his whole life in Centralia, Illinois.  Dick’s family would like to express our gratitude to the staff of Odin Healthcare Center for the love and care that was given to our father.

A private Family Celebration of Life Service for Mr. Richard “Dick” Davis and his wife, Mrs. Doris Kay Davis, will be held at their favorite place in Gulf Shores, Alabama.  There will not be a public visitation nor services.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Mr. Davis’ memory to Huntington’s Disease Society of American or Odin Healthcare Center’s Activity Department and will be received by the Moran Queen-Boggs Funeral Home in Centralia, Illinois.  Please view the online obituary, send condolences or share memories with Mr. Davis’ family at www.moranfuneralhome.net or on the funeral home’s Facebook page.
