Doris "Dottie" Hartley Obituary

Doris Ellen “Dottie” Hartley, age 94, of Centralia, Illinois, peacefully passed away on Thursday, September 1, 2022, at Allegro Senior Living Center in Richmond Heights, Missouri, with loving family by her side.  She was born on October 11, 1927, in Centralia, Illinois, the daughter of Raymond and Veronica (Klein) Smith.  She married Jack Hartley on July 24, 1947, in Centralia, Illinois, and he preceded her in death on January 22, 2003.

Dottie is survived by her family; daughters, Chris Schaflein and husband Charles of Saint Louis, Missouri, Jan Copple and husband Tony of Turlock, California, and Robin Espinoza and husband Rich of Gallatin, Tennessee; ten grandchildren; several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Dawn Gard of Dix, Illinois; brother-in-law, Jerry Hartley and wife Suzanne of Phoenix, Arizona; and sister-in-law, Norma Smith of Glen Carbon, Illinois.

In addition to her loving husband of fifty-five years, Dottie was preceded in death by her parents; sons, Kirk Hartley and Brad Hartley and his life partner, Connie Black; sisters, Elaine Smith and Peggy Williams and husband Mel; brother, Wallace Smith; sister-in-law, Marilyn Allen; and brother-in-law, Roger Hartley.

Dottie was a life-long member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Centralia, Illinois.  She was a member of St. Mary Altar Society.  Dottie lived in Saint Louis, Missouri for the last two and half years, but lived most of her life in Centralia, Illinois.

A Memorial Service for Mrs. Doris Ellen “Dottie” Hartley will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, September 17, 2022, at St. Mary Catholic Church in Centralia, Illinois with Father Steven M. Pautler and Monsignor David M. Darin officiating.  Interment will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park near, Centralia, Illinois. Friends are invited to visit with Dottie’s family from 10:00 A.M. until the time of  her Memorial Service at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, September 17, 2022, at St. Mary Catholic Church in Centralia, Illinois.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Mrs. Hartley’s honor to Accent Care Hospice in Saint Louis, Missouri, American Heart Association, or St. Mary Catholic Church in Centralia, Illinois, and will be received at the Moran Queen-Boggs Funeral Home at 134 South Elm Street in Centralia, Illinois.  Please view the online obituary, send condolences, or share memories with Mrs. Hartley’s family at www.moranfuneralhome.net.
