Eric Roy Knabe, age 55, of Kell, Illinois, passed away at 1:05 P.M. on Tuesday, August 25, 2020, at his home in Kell, Illinois. He was born on August 5, 1965 in home in Walnut Hill, Illinois, the son of Richard and Maureen (Dunphy) Knabe.
Mr. Knabe is survived by his son, Shannon Knabe of Salem, Illinois; daughter, Erica Brianne Hand and husband Robert of Salem, Illinois; grandchildren, Raegyn Thomas and Daxx Knabe; mother, Maureen Knabe of Walnut Hill, Illinois; brother, Beauford Knabe of West Jefferson, Ohio; sister, Susan Parrish and husband Darrell of Estero, Florida; niece, Michelle Olson and husband Jason of Cape Coral, Florida, and nephew, Daniel Parrish and wife Christian of Cape Coral, Florida.
Mr. Knabe was preceded in death by his father; paternal grandparents, Roy Knabe and Ruth Knabe; and maternal grandparents, Michael Dunphy and Matilda Dunphy.
Mr. Knabe could usually be found outside farming and doing carpentry. He also enjoyed grilling and tinkering around in his shed. Mr. Knabe’s family remembers him as having the best sense of humor, always joking around, and not having a serious side to him.
Mr. Knabe was a painter with Schutt Helmet Factory in Salem, Illinois, and was self-employed as a carpenter for many years. Mr. Knabe was a graduating member of Centralia Township High School’s “Class of 1983.” He lived most of his life in Kell, Illinois.
It was Mr. Knabe’s wishes to be cremated. There will be no visitation nor services. Moran Queen-Boggs Funeral Home at 134 South Elm Street in Centralia, Illinois is assisting the family with Mr. Knabe’s arrangements.
