Esther Oexeman Obituary

Esther E. Oexeman, of Centralia, Illinois, met her Heavenly Father on Sunday, December 20, 2020, at the age of 103 years.  Esther was born on April 3rd, 1917, in Hoffman, Illinois, daughter of John and Bertha (Kraus) Sprehe.  She was baptized at Trinity Lutheran Church in Hoffman, Illinois and confirmed at St. John’s Lutheran Church in New Minden, Illinois.

On May 14th, 1939, Esther married Warren F. Oexeman at St. John’s Lutheran Church in New Minden, Illinois and he preceded her in death on March 5th, 1988.  In addition to her husband of 49 years, Mrs. Oexeman was preceded in death by her parents, John Sprehe and Bertha Sprehe; brother, Lawrence Sprehe; three sisters, Hulda Voltmer, Laura Palm and Irene Brammeier; brothers-in-law, Melvin “Mike” Voltmer, Charles Palm, Henry Brammeier and Virgil Hoelscher and sisters-in-law, Dorothy Sprehe and Ruby Hoelscher and niece, Bonnie Hoffman.

Esther is survived and loved by her nieces and nephews, David Sprehe and wife Charlene of Aurora, Colorado, Sandy Franke of Phoenix, Arizona, John Brammeier and wife Jeannie of Carmel, Indiana, Larry Brammeier and wife Cindy of Hoffman, Illinois, Carol Edler and husband Dale of rural Carlyle, Illinois, Mark Hoelscher and wife Leslie of Kansas City, Missouri, and Sharon Frederking and husband Gene of Addieville, Illinois; many great nieces; great nephews; great-great nieces and great-great nephews.

After moving to Centralia, Illinois, Esther and Warren became dedicated members of Trinity Lutheran Church in Centralia, Illinois.  Esther belonged to the Ladies Aid and the quilters group.  In addition to making quilts for the church, Esther’s meticulous quilting craftsmanship was enjoyed by many throughout the area.  In her spare time, she enjoyed cleaning homes for her many friends.  She had a great passion for sharing with others her love for Christ and stories of her many experiences from the past 103 years.  These will be greatly missed.  

Graveside Services for Mrs. Esther Oexeman will be held at 12:00 P.M. on Wednesday, December 23, 2020, at Hillcrest Memorial Park near Centralia, Illinois with Pastor Timothy Mueller officiating.  Friends are invited to go directly to the cemetery and join Mrs. Oexeman’s family at 12:00 P.M. on Wednesday, December 23, 2020.  Interment will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park near Centralia, Illinois.  The family ask those who are attending to please be mindful of social distancing, wear a mask, and take any health precautions necessary to ensure a healthy environment.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Mrs. Oexeman’s honor to Trinity Lutheran Church in Centralia, Illinois or Charity of Donor’s Choice and will be received by the Moran Queen-Boggs Funeral Home at 134 South Elm Street in Centralia, Illinois.  Please view the online obituary, send condolences or share memories with Mrs. Oexeman’s family at www.moranfuneralhome.net.
