Floyd George “Little Butchie” Schumm, age 69, of Fairview Heights, Illinois, formerly of Bluford, Illinois, passed away at 3:46 P.M. on Saturday, January 16, 2021, at HSHS Saint Elizabeth’s Hospital in O’Fallon, Illinois. He was born on February 16, 1951, in Mount Vernon, Illinois, the son of Floyd Charles “Butch” and Betty Jean (Walker) Schumm.
Floyd is survived by his sister, Deborah Gregory of Taylorville, Illinois; nephew, Adam Gregory and wife Becky of Troy, Illinois; niece, Heather Brulez and husband John of Lenexa, Kansas; great-nephews, Chase Gregory, Johnny Brulez and George Brulez; great-nieces, Syndie Brulez and Delia Gregory and his many friends.
Floyd was preceded in death by his parents, Floyd Charles Schumm and Betty Jean Schumm; paternal grandparents, George Schumm and Sophia Schumm; maternal grandfather, Alvin Walker and maternal grandmother, Ollie Walker.
Floyd was of the Baptist Faith, who loved his Bible and gave wonderful testimony. Little Butchie’s greatest passion in life was fishing. He went fishing with his father in Canada. They also went deep-sea fishing and bridge fishing in Florida and fished the lakes together in Reelfoot Lake in Tennessee and Kentucky Lake. Floyd was known to have a kind soul, a great sense of humor and enjoyed flirting with the ladies. He cherished the time he spent with his family and his friends at Cerebral Palsy of Southwestern Illinois. He was called “Grandpa” by his fellow residents. He lived in Fairview Heights, Illinois for ten years and formerly lived in Bluford, Illinois.
As per Mr. Floyd George “Little Butchie” Schumm’s wishes and the wishes of his family, he was cremated. There will be no public visitation nor services. Private inurnment will be held at Thomason Cemetery in Wayne City, Illinois. Cremation rites were accorded by Moran Queen-Boggs Funeral Home at 134 South Elm Street in Centralia, Illinois.
