Glenda Lamb Obituary

Glenda Eileen Lamb, age 85, of Central City, Illinois, peacefully passed away at 2:54 P.M. on Wednesday, March 29, 2023, at her home in Central City, Illinois.  She was born on March 25, 1938, in Centralia, Illinois, the daughter of Harold Ray and Clarine Carleta (Hiltibidle) Miller.  She married Andrew Charles Evans in 1955 in Centralia, Illinois, and they later divorced.  She later married James “Jim” Lamb on October 31, 1991, at Centralia Church of Christ and he passed away in 2007.

Mrs. Lamb is survived by her loving family; daughter, Cheryl Slover of Central City, Illinois; five grandchildren, Kristi Colbert of Centralia, Illinois, Brad Schulte and wife Meredith, who was Glenda’s caretaker, of Centralia, Illinois, David Hicks and wife Sarah of Centralia, Illinois, Shanda Myers and husband James of Centralia, Illinois, and Michelle Hicks of Centralia, Illinois; eight great grandchildren, Tommy Hicks, Jr., Emily Hicks, Alexa Dale, James Myers, Jr., Samantha Schulte, Andrew Schulte, Jason Boyer and wife Maria, and Brittany Boyer; 3 great great-grandchildren, Emberly Schulte, Liam Schulte, and Audra Schulte; and nephew, Chapin Miller.

In addition to her husband of 16 years, Mrs. Lamb was preceded in death by her parents, Harold “Bud” Miller and Clarine Miller; best friend and former husband, Andrew Evans; daughter, Mitzie Hicks; son-in-law, Bill Hicks; grandson, Tommy S. Hicks; great-grandson, Christifer Schulte; and brother, Gary Miller.

Mrs. Lamb was a member of the Centralia Church of Christ in Centralia, Illinois, where she assisted the ladies with meals.  She loved the Lord and out of her love for Him, she sang church songs all the time.  Glenda enjoyed watching her shows on her television, including all shows that featured Michael Landon, such as Little House on the Prairie and Highway to Heaven.  She cherished the time she spent with her family, and enjoyed sitting outside and watching her flowers grow. 

Mrs. Lamb retired as a nurse’s aide from Centralia Fireside House after 25 years of service to the residents.  She lived all of her life in Centralia, Illinois.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 12:00 P.M. on Tuesday, April 4, 2023, at the Moran Queen-Boggs Funeral Home in Centralia, Illinois with Minister Stephen Nail officiating.  Family and friends are invited to visit with Mrs. Lamb’s family from 11:00 A.M. until the time of her services at 12:00 P.M. on Tuesday, April 4, 2023, at the Moran Queen-Boggs Funeral Home in Centralia, Illinois.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Mrs. Lamb’s honor to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or Centralia Church of Christ and will be received by the Moran Queen-Boggs Funeral Home in Centralia, Illinois.  Please view the online obituary, send condolences or share memories with Mrs. Lamb’s family at www.moranfuneralhome.net.
