Joan Margaret (Stimson) Emrick

Joan Margaret Emrick, age 89, of Centralia, Illinois, passed away at 5:00 P.M. on Tuesday, August 2, 2022, at her home in Centralia, Illinois, with her daughter by her side.  She was born on March 4,1933 in Illinois, the daughter of Wilbur and Edna Mae (Smith) Stimson.  She married Clifford S. “John” Emrick on June 12, 1959, in Centralia, Illinois, and he preceded her in death on September 4, 1984. 

Mrs. Emrick is survived by her loving family; daughters, Glenda Emrick of Centralia, Illinois, and Deborah Buchanan of Mulberry, Florida; son, Daniel “Danny” Emrick and wife Angie of Centralia, Illinois; grandchildren, J.R. Emrick of Centralia, Illinois, Kevin Buchanan and wife Michelle of Orlando, Florida, and Michael Buchanan and wife Diane of Minnesota; several great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; brother, Stephen Stimson and wife Willetta of Mackinaw, Illinois; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her loving husband of 25 years, Mrs. Emrick was preceded in death by her parents, Wilbur Stimson and Edna Stimson; daughter, Diane Emrick; and brothers, O.E. Stimson and wife Wanda, and Phillip “Buddy” Stimson and wife Yvonne.

Mrs. Emrick was of the Methodist faith.  She loved to cook her delicious fried chicken on Sundays and big holiday meals and eat with her family.

Mrs. Emrick was a licensed practical nurse at St. Mary’s Hospital for 30 years.  She retired in 1994 from the ICU/Telemetry Department after providing many years of service to her patients.  She moved to Centralia, Illinois, with her husband in 1960, and formerly lived in Richview, Illinois.

Private Graveside Services will be held at Richview Cemetery in Richview, Illinois, with Pastor Sidney Davis officiating.  Interment will follow in Richview Cemetery in Richview, Illinois.  There will be no public visitation.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Mrs. Emrick’s honor to the Centralia Humane Society House of Hope in Centralia, Illinois, and received by the Moran Queen-Boggs Funeral Home at 134 South Elm Street in Centralia, Illinois.  Please view the online obituary, send condolences or share memories with Mrs. Emrick’s family at www.moranfuneralhome.net.
