Mabel M. Patten, age 87, of Centralia, Illinois, passed away at 9:59 P.M. on Thursday, August 20, 2020, at Oklahoma State University Medical Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma. She was born on January 5, 1933, in Robinson, Illinois, the daughter of Oscar Denver and Cleo (Dollahan) Pritchard. She married Elmer Patten on January 31, 1950, in Lawrenceville, Illinois and he preceded her in death on February 12, 1999.
Mrs. Patten is survived by her son, Elmer Patten, Jr. and wife Pat of Centralia, Illinois; daughters, Carolyn Sue Marcum and husband Stan of Centralia, Illinois, Rose Marie Harvey of Salem, Illinois and Marilyn Jean Sloat and husband Tony of Centralia, Illinois; grandchildren, Austin Harvey and wife Amanda, Misty Schaeffer and husband Todd, Layla Moureau and husband Collin, Chris Pratt and Brianna, Tony Sloat, Jr. and wife Candace, Shane Harvey, Jacquelin Hensley and husband Jeremy, Danielle Patten and special friend Jackie Striker, Mandy Fehland and husband Matt, Travis Patten and wife Alex and Sara Marcum; 26 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandsons; brother, Larry Pritchard of Centralia, Illinois; sister Margaret Patten and husband Walter of Centralia, Illinois and many friends.
In addition to her loving husband of 49 years, Mrs. Patten is preceded in death by her parents, grandson, Jason Marcum; granddaughter, Stephanie Dawn Patten Harvey, great-grandson, Maverick Pratt; great grandchild born sleeping; son-in-law, John Harvey, Jr.; brothers, Oscar Pritchard, Jack Pritchard, John Pritchard, Eugene Pritchard and Kenneth Pritchard; sister, Betty Porter and sister of her Heart, Hazel Way.
Mrs. Patten was a member of Cornerstone United Methodist Church in Centralia, Illinois, where she supervised funeral luncheons, was president of the United Methodist Women and member of the 50th Club. She was a former member of Faith United Methodist Church in Wamac, Illinois. Mrs. Patten was a member of the Centralia Women of the Moose Chapter 223 in Centralia, Illinois for over 50 years. She assisted with the After-School Program at North Wamac School. She was president of the Carlyle Tops Chapter 1921 for many years. Mrs. Patten enjoyed crocheting and taking pictures. Mrs. Patten had a big zest for life and had a Heart of Gold. It was her all-time favorite thing to do was to attend the Centralia Balloon Fest and the Centralia Halloween Parade. She loved cooking for her family and friends. She cherished the time she spent with her family, especially going camping with her grandkids. Mabel’s family was always first to her.
Mrs. Patten was a Dietary Supervisor at Friendship Nursing Home in Centralia, Illinois for many years. She lived her whole life in Centralia, Illinois.
Celebration of Life Services for Mrs. Mabel M. Patten will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, August 28, 2020, at Cornerstone United Methodist Church in Centralia, Illinois with Pastor Therese Melena and Pastor Phil Poe officiating. Interment will follow in Little Grove Cemetery in Walnut Hill, Illinois. As a result of current national health circumstances, friends are invited to join with Mrs. Patten’s family via Live Stream on www.christianworldmedia.com on the Cornerstone United Methodist Church channel at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, August 28, 2020. The family asked to honor Mrs. Patten by wearing purple. Friends may pay their respects to Mrs. Patten, sign the guest book or make a memorial contribution from 4:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. on Thursday, August 27, 2020, at Moran Queen-Boggs Funeral Home in Centralia, Illinois and 10:00 A.M. until the time of Mrs. Patten’s services at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, August 28, 2020 at Cornerstone United Methodist Church in Centralia, Illinois. The family ask those who are attending to please be mindful of social distancing, wear a mask, and take any health precautions necessary to ensure a healthy environment. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Mrs. Patten’s honor to the Cornerstone United Methodist Church in Centralia, Illinois and will be received by the Moran Queen-Boggs Funeral Home at 134 South Elm Street in Centralia, Illinois.
