Mary Lucille Bude, age 99, of Centralia, Illinois, passed away at 9:50 P.M. on Saturday, March 7, 2020, at her home in Centralia, Illinois with her loving family by her side. She was born on September 3, 1920 in Centralia, Illinois, the daughter of William “Bill” and Helen G. (Maddox) Pfeffer. She married Herbert E. F. Bude on September 11, 1949 at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Centralia, Illinois and he preceded her in death on August 24, 1999.
Mrs. Bude is survived by her daughter, Elizabeth Densmore and husband Richard of Centralia, Illinois; grandson, Shayne Densmore and wife Lora of Centralia, Illinois; great-grandchildren, Riley R. Densmore, Dylan C. Densmore and twins, Ethan H. Densmore and Nathan D. Densmore; nephew, Craig Henderson of Centralia, Illinois; niece, Sarah Sharp of Centralia, Illinois; long time caregiver, Diane Phelps of Centralia, Illinois and several cousins.
In addition to her loving husband of 49 years, Mrs. Bude was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Bette Henderson and brother-in-law, John Henderson.
After her mother gave birth to her, Mrs. Bude was baptized into the Methodist faith. After marrying the love of her life, she was baptized into the Lutheran faith and was a long-time member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Centralia, Illinois. She liked staying home and was a homebody. She enjoyed vacationing with her husband and family, including taking train trips. Mrs. Bude was fond of her black cats and as a child living at home, she was fond of the family German Shepherd, “Blitz,” who guarded the family while dad was gone. She cherished the time she spent with her family, especially her grandson and great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Bude retired as a bookkeeper and secretary from Pfeffer Feed & Seed in Centralia, Illinois. She previously was a bookkeeper and secretary for Stover Brothers in Centralia, Illinois and Central City Lumber. She graduated with Centralia Township High School’s “Class of 1938.” She lived all of her life in Centralia, Illinois.
A Graveside Service for Mrs. Mary Lucille Bude will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday, March 11, 2020, at Hillcrest Memorial Park near Centralia, Illinois with Pastor Mark Girardin officiating. Friends are asked to go directly to the Hillcrest Memorial Park on Wednesday. Interment will follow in the cemetery. There will be a private family gathering at Moran Queen-Boggs Funeral Home in Centralia, Illinois. Memorial contributions may be made in Mrs. Bude’s honor to the Centralia Humane Society, Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation or Trinity Lutheran Church in Centralia, Illinois and will be received at the Moran Queen-Boggs Funeral Home at 134 South Elm Street in Centralia, Illinois.
