Stephen Wayne Shaw

Stephen Wayne Shaw, age 59, of Centralia, Illinois, passed away at 6:47 P.M. on Wednesday, August 25, 2021, at Doctor’s Nursing and Rehab Center in Salem, Illinois. He was born on October 23, 1961, in Centralia, Illinois, the son of Shirley Lee and Pauline Ellen Evelyn (Bonner) Shaw.

Stephen is survived by his loving family; brother, Allen Lee Shaw and wife Patricia of Sandoval, Illinois; sister, Susan Lynn Shaw of Centralia, Illinois; nieces, Amber Learned and husband Josh of Barnhart, Missouri, and Brittany Nicole Shaw of Sandoval, Illinois; nephews, Bradley Michael Venters of Centralia, Illinois, and James Lee Venters of Centralia, Illinois; and great nephews, Eli Learned and Colton Learned.

Stephen was preceded in death by his parents, Shirley Lee Shaw, and Pauline Evelyn Shaw.

Stephen was of the Christian faith.  He graduated with Centralia High School’s “Class of 1979.”  Stephen was a certified nursing assistant employed with local nursing homes and St. Mary’s Hospital in Centralia, Illinois, until he stopped working in 2004, due to his declining health.  He lived his whole life in Centralia, Illinois.  

Stephen loved listening to music, especially the gospel music of Elvis Presley, J.D. Sumner and the Stamps Quartet, and Masters Five Quartet.  He was an avid fan of the Saint Louis Cardinals.  Stephen was fascinated with fire trucks, and he would visit the firehouse to talk with the fire fighters and see the fire trucks.  Stephen enjoyed life, and he was known to be simple, quiet, laid back, with no cares in the world.  He was always joking and playing practical jokes on his family and friends. He had nothing, and he didn’t care to have anything. He cherished the time he spent with his family, especially going on family outings to fish out on the lake, attend stock car races or camping every weekend with them.

Celebration of Life Service for Mr. Stephen Wayne Shaw will be held at 2:30 P.M. on Saturday, September 4, 2021, at the Moran Queen-Boggs Funeral Home in Centralia, Illinois with Pastor Don Smith officiating. Interment will follow in Elmwood Cemetery in Centralia, Illinois.  Friends may visit with Mr. Shaw’s family from 1:30 P.M. until the time of his service at 2:30 P.M. on Saturday, September 4, 2021, at the Moran Queen-Boggs Funeral Home.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested and may be received by the Moran Queen-Boggs Funeral Home at 134 South Elm Street in Centralia, Illinois. The family asks those who are attending to please be mindful of social distancing, wear a mask, and take any health precautions necessary to ensure a healthy environment.
