Susan G. McTall, of Irvington, Illinois passed away peacefully in her childhood home on the morning of July 3, 2021, exactly one week before her 78th birthday, from her 27-year battle with cancer.
Susan is survived by her six loving children, Roger Wolff and wife LuAnn, Randy Wolff and wife Jodi, Rhonda Rumer and husband Rich, Robert Ludwig, Renee Krebs and husband Doug, and Rama Seats and husband Jeff; fifteen grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson, whom she loved more than anything in the world. Susan is also survived by her brother, Ralph Creed McTall and his wife Leora, and their children and grandchildren, and her adopted siblings, Johnny and Jenny Goose, who lived outside her bedroom window as a little girl and seemed to always take the blame for her and Ralph’s misdeeds. Susan’s family deeply appreciates her caregivers, Kate Ramey, Heather Kellerman, Sunny Powe, Colby Lyons, Linda Dozier, and Julie McPhail.
Susan is preceded in death by her mother, Evelyn Ruth (Creed) McTall, and her surrogate father, Fred Meyers.
Susan graduated with Centralia Township High School’s “Class of 1960” and went on to graduate Cum Laude at Kaskaskia Community College with a degree in Accounting and Business Administration. She went on to start up Centralia Business Services doing taxes for Southern Illinoisians for over twenty years. After she sold her tax business, Susan opened Grandma’s Kitchen in Irvington, Illinois, and was famous for her quick sarcasm and infectious laugh, always helping out with every fundraiser and charity, feeding free meals to those who needed it, and starting off every fall with her homemade Pumpkin ice cream.
Susan was a member of Mensa and was immensely proud of this. She loved to do puzzles and mysteries. She enjoyed most in life playing in poker tournaments, trivia competitions, and watching her grandchildren play sports throughout the state, and watching endless hours of game shows on television.
