Vera Owens Obituary

Vera Louise Owens, age 83, of Centralia, Illinois, passed away at 3:20 P.M. on Sunday, December 12, 2021, at Fireside House of Centralia in Centralia, Illinois.  She was born on January 17, 1938, in her home in Marion County, Illinois, the daughter of Paul and Norma (George) Lynn.  She married Delbert Wayne Livesay and they later divorced.  She married Macy E. Owens in 1966 and he preceded her in death on June 1, 1994.

Mrs. Owens is survived by her daughter, Terri Livesay Huttes and husband Randy of Port Charlotte, Florida; sons, Chris Livesay and wife Trish of Centralia, Illinois, and Randy Owens and wife Leisa of Tampa, Florida; grandchildren, Nick Lyons and wife Nicole of Centralia, Illinois, Brent Livesay and wife Wendy of Dix, Illinois, Megan Barton and husband Jake of Walnut Hill, Illinois, Matt Shaw of Houston, Texas, Josh Shaw of Houston, Texas, Brittany McCrary and husband Sean of Cocoa, Florida, and Scott Owens of Tampa, Florida; great-grandchildren, Jamesyn Lyons, Adelle Lyons, Keatin Lyons, Rhett Livesay, Aiden Barton, and Owen McCrary; and her furry friend, Snowy.  She was expecting the birth of her great-granddaughter, Reese Livesay, on December 20, 2021.

In addition to her loving husband of 30 years, Mrs. Owens was preceded in death by her parents, Paul Lynn and Norma Lynn; son, Mike Livesay; and sister, Barbara Aussieker.     

Mrs. Owens was a Believer in Christ. She was a life-time member of the Centralia Family Moose Lodge 1219 in Centralia, Illinois. Every chance she could, she liked watching a baseball game of the Saint Louis Cardinals. Mrs. Owens truly enjoyed being on the go, shopping and socializing with her friends. She cherished the time she spent with her family and friends.  She was always looking out after her children.

Mrs. Owens retired in 2000 as a social worker from Frazier Manor in Centralia, Illinois, and formerly was a social worker at Friendship House in Centralia, Illinois. Earlier in life, she was owner of Centralia Produce in Centralia, Illinois in the 1960’s. She lived her whole life in Centralia, Illinois.

Graveside Services for Mrs. Vera Louise Owens will be held at 1:30 P.M. on Saturday, December 18, 2021, at Hillcrest Memorial Park near Centralia, Illinois, with Pastor Steve Upchurch officiating.  Interment will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park.  Friends are asked to visit with Mrs. Owens’ family from 11:00 A.M. until 1:00 P.M. on Saturday, December 18, 2021, at Moran Queen-Boggs Funeral Home in Centralia, Illinois.  The family asks those who are attending to please be mindful of social distancing, wear a mask, and take any health precautions necessary to ensure a healthy environment.  Memorial contributions may be made in Mrs. Owens’ honor to the American Diabetes Association or Spinal Stenosis c/o Arthritis Foundation and will be received by the Moran Queen-Boggs Funeral Home at 134 South Elm Street in Centralia, Illinois.  Please view the online obituary, send condolences or share memories with Mrs. Owens’ family at www.moranfuneralhome.net.
