Vivian Boozer Obituary

Vivian Irene Boozer, age 90, of Centralia, Illinois, passed away at 3:33 A.M. on Monday, August 1, 2022, at Centralia Manor in Centralia, Illinois, with her daughter by her side.  She was born on February 17, 1932, in Edgewood, Illinois, the daughter of John Riley and Anna Ellen (Ort) Wilson.  She married Lee W. Boozer on February 25, 1951, in Edgewood, Illinois, and he preceded her in death on August 6, 1996.

Vivian is survived by her loving family, daughter, Gladys Myers and husband Paul of Centralia, Illinois, son, Lee W. “Ike” Boozer, Jr. and wife Monecia of Centralia, Illinois, son, Edward “Ed” Boozer and wife Malia of Centralia, Illinois; daughter, Cathy Mayer and husband Steve of Centralia, Illinois; 15 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; and eight nieces, and two nephews.

In addition to her husband of 45 years, Vivian was preceded in death by her parents, John Wilson, and Anna Wilson; two great-grandchildren, and three brothers, William “Bill” Wilson, John “Jack” Wilson, and Jim Wilson. 

Vivian was a life-long member of the First Presbyterian Church in Centralia, Illinois.  She was a member of the Centralia American Legion Ladies Auxiliary Post 446, Centralia Veteran of Foreign Wars Ladies Auxiliary Post 2055, and Centralia Chapter 223 Women of the Moose.  Vivian loved to crochet, knit, and sew.  She enjoyed playing cards and dominos with her friends.  After baking at the store all day, she still came home to her family and baked for them, especially her pies.  She could often be found outside tending to her flower and vegetable gardens.  Vivian cherished the time she spent with her family, especially her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

After her marriage to Lee, they owned and operated a meat locker in Farina, Illinois.  Upon moving to Centralia, Illinois, she was employed with Tom’s Drive-In in Centralia, Big John’s Store in Centralia, Kroger Grocery Store in Centralia, Country Fair Store in Centralia, and Priced Right Foods in Centralia, Illinois.  She spent many years employed with grocery stores and retired in 1999 as a bakery/deli manager.  She graduated with South Central High School’s “Class of 1949” in Farina, Illinois.  She lived most of her life in Centralia, Illinois.

Graveside Services for Mrs. Vivian Irene Boozer will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, August 5, 2022, at Hillcrest Memorial Park near Centralia, Illinois, with Pastor Joannie Naraghi officiating.  Friends of Mrs. Boozer are asked to go directly to the cemetery on Friday.  Interment will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park.  There will be a private family viewing at the Moran Queen-Boggs Funeral Home in Centralia, Illinois.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Vivian’s honor to Alzheimer’s Association or Parkinson’s Foundation and received by the Moran Queen-Boggs Funeral Home at 134 South Elm Street in Centralia, Illinois.  Please view the online obituary, send condolences, or share memories with Mrs. Boozer’s family at www.moranfuneralhome.net.
