Obituary

William Earl Glammeyer, age 68, of Centralia, Illinois, passed away at 4:35 A.M. on Thursday, June 29, 2023, at Fireside House in Centralia, Illinois. He was born on September 28, 1954, in Centralia, Illinois, the son of Earl William and Gladys Mary (Addison) Glammeyer.

William is survived by his loving family, sisters, Ruth Graham and husband Donald McClelland of Centralia, Illinois, and Mary Tullis of Centralia, Illinois; brothers, George Glammeyer of Indianapolis, Indiana, and Daniel Glammeyer and wife Corenia of Beaver, Utah; brothers-in-law, Jeff Tullis of Centralia, Illinois, Joe Graham of Centralia, Illinois, and Kenneth Pontious of Byers, Colorado; and many nieces and nephews.

William was preceded in death by his parents, Earl Glammeyer and Mary Glammeyer; sister, Helen Pontious; and sister-in-law, Il Sun Glammeyer.

William was a former member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Centralia, Illinois, where he was baptized and received his confirmation. He delivered stuffed animals to nursing home residents at Christmas time for over 18 years.  He was featured in the newspaper for being Santa Clause for those many years.  William loved his vehicles, especially the Ford Mustang and Mach 1.  He enjoyed his collectibles, as he collected Star Trek, Batman and Robin, and many other notable television items.  He watched many Sci-Fi movies and shows and considered himself to be a Trekkie. He liked tending his beautiful flowers growing in his yard.  William spent his time catering to cats and he would talk to the cats.  William cherished the time he spent with his family.

William graduated with the Centralia Township High School’s “Class of 1972.”  He received his bachelor’s degree in electronics from Southern Illinois University - Carbondale in 1976.  After graduating from college, he was employed at Kaskaskia College in Centralia, Illinois, for two years.  He retired in October of 2020 as a Senior Electronics Technician from Basler Electric Company in Highland, Illinois, serving them for 14 years from July of 2006 until his retirement. He has lived his whole life in Centralia, Illinois.

Celebration of Life Services for Mr. William Earl Glammeyer will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Thursday, July 6, 2023, at Moran Queen-Boggs Funeral Home in Centralia, Illinois with Pastor James Hennig officiating.  Interment will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park near Centralia, Illinois.  Friends are asked to meet with Mr. Glammeyer’s family from 12:00 P.M until the time of his services at 2:00 P.M. on Thursday, July 6, 2023, at the funeral home.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Mr. Glammeyer’s honor to the Shriners Children’s Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri, and may be received by the Moran Queen-Boggs Funeral Home at 134 South Elm Street in Centralia, Illinois.  Please view the online obituary, send condolences, or share memories with Mr. Glammeyer’s family at www.moranfuneralhome.net.
