Obituary

Wilma Jean Peterson, age 93, of Boerne, Texas, formerly of Centralia, Illinois, passed away at 10:30 A.M. on Monday, February 3, 2020, at Cibolo Creek Health and Rehabilitation Center in Boerne, Texas with her loving family by her side.  She was born on January 13, 1927, in Centralia, Illinois, the daughter of Lee and Wilmuth (Orrison) Atchison.  She married William Blake Peterson on June 25, 1955.

Mrs. Peterson is survived by her son, Blake Edward Peterson of Boerne, Texas; daughter, LeAnn Littrell and husband Jeff of Boerne, Texas; grandchildren, Tige Bucchino, Cindy Tschirhart, Kelly Hildebrand and husband Jody, Michael Peterson and wife Yolonda, RaeAnn Cape and husband Dave, Shanna Lewis and friend Bobby Salyers, Steven Peterson and wife Jennifer and Kelsey Littrell and friend Levi Alli; great-grandchildren, Mikaela Tschirhart, Luke Tschirshat, Andrew Hildebrand, Brittini Cape, Kristina Cape, Jacob Cape, Myles Martin, Nayden Lee and Heather Lynn Peterson; great-great-grandchildren, Rhett Hildebrand and Declan Gruensteiner; step-sister, Genevieve Yaple of Vicksburg, Michigan; sister-in-law, Eda Lee Bounds of Centralia, Illinois; special friend, Rita Peterson of Lake Hills, Texas; nephews, Terry Atchison and wife Anita and Mark Black and wife Claire and nieces, Karen Bounds, Susan McGovern and husband Jim and Cindy Black Champion.

Mrs. Peterson was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Lee Atchison and sister-in-law, Betty Atchison.

Mrs. Peterson was a member of the Women of the Moose Chapter # 223 in Centralia, Illinois.  She was an avid reader.  She enjoyed shopping and dancing.  She loved to travel throughout the country with her family. She was a loving and caring mother and grandmother, who cherished the time she spent with her family, especially her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  She loved the family get togethers.

Mrs. Peterson retired as an administrator from the Fireside Nursing Home in Centralia, Illinois after many years of service.  After her retirement from the nursing home, she was owner of Merle Norman Cosmetic Studio in Mount Vernon, Illinois for six years.  She lived in Boerne, Texas for four years and formerly lived in Salem, Illinois and Centralia, Illinois.

A Celebration of Life Service for Mrs. Wilma Jean Peterson will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Thursday, February 13, 2020, at the Moran Queen-Boggs Funeral Home in Centralia, Illinois with Reverend Sidney Davis officiating.  Interment will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park near Centralia, Illinois.  Family and Friends are asked to visit with Mrs. Peterson’s family from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. on Wednesday, February 12, 2020, at the Moran Queen-Boggs Funeral Home and from 10:00 A.M. until the time of her services at 11:00 A.M. on Thursday, February 13, 2020, at the funeral home.  Memorial Contributions may be made in Mrs. Peterson’s honor to the First United Methodist Church Centralia, Illinois and will be received at Moran Queen-Boggs Funeral Home at 134 South Elm Street in Centralia, Illinois.  Please view the online obituary, send condolences or share memories with Mrs. Peterson’s family at www.moranfuneralhome.net or on the Moran Queen-Boggs Funeral Home’s Facebook page.
