Edna Ruth Cover, age 94, passed away on Monday, April 11, 2016, at Centralia Manor in Centralia, Illinois.
She was born on December 20, 1921 in Centralia. She was the daughter of Edward M. and Maude (Baldridge) Cobb. On September 29, 1945, she married Robert L. Cover at the First United Methodist Church in Centralia. They were married for 67 years until his death in January of 2012.
Mrs. Cover is survived by a daughter, Judith (Cover) Kulb and her husband, Steven, of Evanston, Illinois, a sister, Helen Fish, of Cherokee, Iwo, two grandchildren, Laura and Jennifer Kulb, both of Evanston, Illinois, a special niece, Margaret (Fish) Rasch, of Cherokee, Iowa, and a sister-in-law, Mary Lou Schnake of Louisiana.
Mrs. Cover was a graduate of Southern Illinois University and McKendree College where she got her degree in Elementary Education. She taught school for 36 years. For 34 of those years, she taught in the Centralia City School System, and for most of those 34 years was a Fifth Grade teacher at Irving School.
She belonged to and was an active member in the First United Methodist Church of Centralia, the Marion County and State of Illinois Educational Societies, and the Centralia Cultural Society.
Funeral Services will be at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 16, 2016, at the First United Methodist Church in Centralia. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park near Centralia.
Friends may call from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, April 15, 2016, at the Moran Queen-Boggs Funeral Home in Centralia.
Memorials may be made in Mrs. Cover’s honor to the First United Methodist Church in Centralia or the Centralia Humane Society.
