Gary Evan Lingle, age 74, of Centralia, Illinois, passed away at 6:30 P.M. on Friday, January 15, 2016 at Centralia Manor in Centralia, Illinois with his family at his side.  He was born February 9, 1941 in Pulaski, Illinois, the son of Terry Nathan and Lois Irene (Hacker) Lingle.  He married Mary Louise Sprague on September 17, 1960 in Anna Jonesboro, Illinois and she survives him in Centralia, Illinois.

In addition to his wife of 55 years, Mr. Lingle is survived by his daughters, Pam Lawson and husband Mark of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Sherry Griffin and husband Chad of Monroe, North Carolina and Shelia LaPradd and husband Ron of Macon, Georgia, grandchildren, Evan Lawson, Ethan Lawson, Allie Griffin, Will Griffin, Justin LaPradd and Ryan LaPradd, brother, Dennis Ray Lingle and wife Janice of Hurst-Bush, Illinois, sister-in-law: Betty Lingle of Centralia, Illinois, niece, Terri Roetemeyer and husband Roger of Walnut Hill, Illinois, great-nephews, Josh Roetemeyer and wife Kerry of Nashville, Illinois and Brandon Lingle of California, great-great-niece, Harper Roetemeyer of Nashville, Illinois and his many friends.  

Mr. Lingle was preceded in death by his parents, Terry Lingle in January of 1988 and Lois Lingle in February of 1998, brother, Marris Lingle in August of 1996 and nephew, David Lingle in August of 2005.

Mr. Lingle attended the First Baptist Church in Centralia, Illinois and was a member of University Baptist Church in Carbondale, Illinois.  He was an avid golfer.  He was one of the original members of the Greenview Golf Course in Centralia, Illinois and his claim to fame was being one of the first golfers to make a hole-in-one at this course.  He was an outdoorsman who liked deer hunting with both shotgun and bow and fishing.  He enjoyed tending to his garden and tinkering with lawn mowers and other small engine machines in his shop.  Mr. Lingle cherished the time he spent with his family, especially his grandchildren. 

Mr. Lingle retired in 2002 as a locomotive engineer with Illinois Central-Canadian National Railroad after 42 years of service.  He has lived in Centralia, Illinois since 1965.  The family wishes to give a special thanks to the staff of the Bounce Back Rehab Program at Centralia Manor.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Wednesday, January 20, 2016 at Moran Queen-Boggs Funeral Home in Centralia, Illinois with Pastor Rodger Randolph officiating.  Interment Service will held at 1:00 P.M. on Wednesday at the Oakland Cemetery in Carbondale, Illinois.  Friends may call from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. on Tuesday, January 19, 2016 at the Moran Queen-Boggs Funeral Home in Centralia, Illinois.  Memorial Contributions may be made in Mr. Lingle’s memory to the House of Hope, First Baptist Church or Charity of Donor’s Choice and will be received at the Moran Queen-Boggs Funeral Home in Centralia, Illinois.  Please view the online obituary, send condolences or share memories with Mr. Lingle’s family at www.moranfuneralhome.net or on Facebook.
