Jeffrey Louis “Jeff” Picard, age 60, of Irvington, Illinois, passed away at 10:00 P.M. on Monday, April 10, 2017 at SSM Health St. Louis University Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri. He was born on February 20, 1957 in El Dorado, Arkansas, the son of the late Donald F. and Rosemary T. (LaFata) Picard.  He married Nancy LaFran Jordan on September 22, 1981 in Nashville, Illinois and she survives him in Irvington, Illinois.

In addition to his loving wife of 35 years, Mr. Picard is survived by his daughter, Chastity Howes and husband Shane of Centralia, Illinois, two sons, Jeffrey Nicholas “Nick” Picard and wife Sheena of Irvington, Illinois and Jordan Reed Picard of Irvington, Illinois, seven granddaughters, Shyanne Howes, Hannah Finley, Jadi Howes, Libby Finley, Alyssa Nelms, Mackenzie Howes and Ava Picard, four brothers, Robert Picard and friend Jeanne Kenuam, Donald Picard and wife Lois, Bart Picard and Mark Picard and friend Chayna Leeka, seven sisters, Donna Brown and friend Danny Cozean, Linda Reed and husband Bill, Laura Cooper and husband Tom, Debbie Weaver and husband Doug, Tina Devereaux and husband Tony, Lisa Biekert and husband John and Jacqueline Smith and husband Kevin, mother-in-law, Norma Brandt, brother-in-law, Wayne Jordan and wife Glenda, sister-in-law, Kathy Heinrichsmeyer and husband Skip, and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. 

In addition to his parents, Mr. Picard was preceded in death by his two nephews, Brent Picard and Marty Brandt, niece, Dana Joy Tucker and brother-in-law, Charles David Jordan.

Mr. Picard was a member of the Centralia congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses.  He enjoyed being in the outdoors, to him life meant hunting, fishing, boating and camping with his family.  He loved restoring old cars and his most recent prized possession was a ‘78 Corvette.  Mr. Picard always lent a helping hand to others and he could be found tending to his finely manicured yard, as well as his son’s yards. He had a special place in his heart for his fur buddies that included two German Shepherds, Bear and Harley and nine cats. He cherished the time he spent with his family, friends and neighbors in Irvington.  He was known as being a great father and granddaddy, as he was most proud of his babies. 

Mr. Picard served in the military as a jet mechanic from 1975 to 1979.  He was a maintenance mechanic for two years at the Clover Leaf Grain in Hoyleton, Illinois.  He was previously employed as a tree trimmer for IBEW Local Union 702 for eleven years and as a truck tire builder for Continental General Tire in Mt. Vernon, Illinois for eighteen years.  He lived in Irvington, Illinois since 2006 and formerly lived in Carlyle, Illinois.  

A Celebration of Life Services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, April 15, 2017, at the Moran Queen-Boggs Funeral Home in Centralia, Illinois with Eldon Bryan officiating.  A Memorial Gathering of Family and Friends will be held from 12:00 P.M. until the time of services at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, April 15, 2017, at the Moran Queen-Boggs Funeral Home in Centralia, Illinois.  Memorial contributions are appreciated and will be received at the Moran Queen-Boggs Funeral Home in Centralia, Illinois.  Please view the online obituary, send condolences or share memories with Mr. Picard’s family at www.moranfuneralhome.net or on the funeral home’s Facebook page.
