Madeleine was a McCann family favorite person. I stayed a week with the Pennock family in 1957. I had a very fun time. I will always remember Madeleine's funny stories. My condolences are sent to the entire extended family.

To all the Pennock boys, remember the good times.  She was a lovely lady with a generous sense of humor and welcomed all in to her home.  I am sorry for your loss.

With regret I send our condolences to all of you.  I remember Madeleine (and Harold) so well as they were such good friends of my parents, Bill Stephens and Tressie Stephens Spurgeon.  The Literary 12 Book Club that the women belonged to was such a delight to Mother.  I remember a meeting once at Mary Lazaretti's home on Pine Street when my mother had my daughters present the monthly review.  Madeleine was so kind to them that night.  And after my mother moved to Centralia Estates, the Literary 12, at Madeleine's suggestion, decided to bring the book club to her there.  How kind was that?  I know you have many, many loving memories of your mother/grandmother.  Please know that my thoughts and prayers are with you.

Dear Pennock Family,
I am so sorry for the loss of your mother.  Madeleine and Harold were such a dear friends to Mom and Dad.  After Dad passed, Madeleine would go to Mom's house on Maple Street to "walk the ramp" and keep her company.  They so loved sharing books.  Mom wanted Madeleine's opinion before moving from Maple St. home.  She truly valued her life-long friendship with her.  I remember her genuine laugh and smile!  As a youngster, Thomas Joy and I were walking one day from his house to mine in town (not a smart idea and without permission).  It was a hot day.  We stopped at the "Chez Pennock" and Madeleine gave us a drink of water...we went on our way.  Different times!  Simple times.  Wonderful memories!
With Love,
Anne Boston Somers
