Mark David Sprehe

Mark David Sprehe, age 59, of Centralia, Illinois, passed away at 4:56 A.M. on Sunday, February 7, 2016 at SSM Health St. Mary’s Hospital in Centralia, Illinois.  He was born on February 29, 1956 in Centralia, Illinois, the son of Albert, Jr. and Caroline Marie (McCullough) Sprehe.  He married Belinda Edmondson on May 22, 1976 at the Central City Baptist Church and they later divorced.

Mark is survived by his mother, Caroline Sprehe of Centralia, Illinois, sons, David Andrew Sprehe and wife Jennifer of Wentzville, Missouri, Jeremy Sprehe and wife Gina of Washington, Missouri and Matthew Sprehe and wife Melissa of Okawville, Illinois, 7 grandchildren, sister, Daphna Shook and husband Larry of Centralia, Illinois, uncle, Bruce Sprehe and wife Cheryl of Centralia, Illinois, niece, Natalie Higgerson of Nashville, Illinois, nephew, Michael Shook of Edwardsville, Illinois, cousins and many friends.

Mark was preceded in death by his father, Albert Sprehe, Jr., paternal grandparents, Albert and Marie (Maschhoff) Sprehe and maternal grandparents, D.K. and Meta (Rahn) McCullough.

Mark was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Centralia, Illinois, where he spent many hours painting around the church.  He was baptized in the Trinity Lutheran Church on March 18, 1956 and was confirmed on April 4, 1971.  He loved the outdoors especially fishing, hiking, trail riding and mushroom hunting.  He liked to watch westerns.  Mark cherished the time he spent with his family and loved his boys.  He was looking forward to the birth of his 8th grandchild.  It is said by his family, “he was the coolest guy ever and he will be sadly missed by his family and friends.  Mark’s life and faith was an inspiration to the many people that crossed his path.”

Mark was an union painter and decorator working with various painting companies from the age of 18 until he became injured in 1995.  He lived most of his life in Centralia, Illinois.

A Celebration of Life Services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, February 13, 2016, at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Centralia, Illinois with Pastor Mark Girardin and Pastor Perry Schefelker officiating. Inurnment will follow in the Gilead Cemetery in Jefferson County, Illinois.  A Memorial Gathering of Family and Friends will be from 10:00 A.M. until the time of services at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, February 13, 2016, at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Centralia, Illinois.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Trinity Lutheran Church in Centralia or Christ Our Rock Lutheran High School and will be received by the Moran Queen-Boggs Funeral Home in Centralia, Illinois.  Please view the online obituary, send condolences or share memories with Mark’s family at www.moranfuneralhome.net or on Facebook.
