Phyllis A. Knox

Phyllis A. Knox, age 70, of Centralia, Illinois, passed away at 9:30 P.M. on Monday, March 6, 2017, at SSM Health St. Mary's Hospital in Centralia, Illinois with her family by her side.  She was born on June 24, 1946 in Centralia, Illinois, the daughter of John J. and Ruby Lucille (Beal) Hirsch.  She married Bobby Branch in November of 1963 in Centralia, Illinois and they later divorced.  She then married William C. “Bill” Knox on July 29, 1982 in Marion County, Illinois and he survives her in Centralia, Illinois.

In addition to her loving and devoted husband of 34 years, Mrs. Knox is survived by her three daughters, Paula Fugitt and husband Cary of Centralia, Illinois, Julie Miller and husband Aron of Centralia, Illinois and Karen McDonnough and husband Mike of Pinckneyville, Illinois, step-son, Jimmy Knox of Mexico, ten grandchildren, Adam Evans, Kimberly Evans, Lee Miller, Colburn Miller, Joseph Miller, Cristina Knox, Jacob Hamilton, Kacey Guthrie, Holly Gebke and Connor Gebke, 4 great-grandchildren, two brothers, Kenneth Hirsch of Wiesbaden, Germany and Norman Hirsch of Centralia, Illinois, one sister, Doris Sanders of Centralia, Illinois, brother-in law, Eddie Monical of rural Salem, Illinois, sister-in-law, Pat Hirsch of Salem, Illinois, special friend, Sandy Kahn of Hoyleton, Illinois and many loving nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Knox was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Richard Hirsch and sister, Verla Monical.

Mrs. Knox was a member of the Salem Seventh-Day Adventist Church and a former member of the Centralia Seventh-Day Adventist Church, which she joined in 1994.  She spent her life in witnessing for the Lord and spreading the word of God.  She was known to have a servant’s heart which led to her passion for caring for the elderly.  Mrs. Knox loved people and she never met a stranger.  She loved traveling with the love of her life and taking vacations throughout the United States and Europe.  She cherished the time she spent with her family, especially her children and grandchildren. She was looking forward to the arrival of Baby Leila in May.

Mrs. Knox retired in 1996 as a candy packer from Hollywood Brand Candy Company after 23 years of service. She attended Centralia Township High School and Washington Elementary School in Centralia, Illinois.  She lived all of her life in Centralia, Illinois.

A Celebration of Life Services will be held at 3:00 P.M. on Sunday, March 12, 2017 at Salem Seventh-Day Adventist Church in Salem, Illinois with Pastor Larry Clonch officiating.  A Memorial Gathering of family and friends will be held from 2:00 P.M. until the time of services at 3:00 P.M. on Sunday, March 12, 2017, at Salem Seventh-Day Adventist Church in Salem, Illinois.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Mrs. Knox’s memory to Three Angels Broadcasting Network (3ABN) and will be received by the Moran Queen-Boggs Funeral Home in Centralia, Illinois.  Please view the online obituary, send condolences or share memories with Mrs. Knox’s family at www.moranfuneralhome.net or on the funeral home’s Facebook page
